Executive Director
Erbin Crowell is the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Cooperative Business Association, CLUSA International, and serves as Executive Director of the Neighboring Food Co-op Association (NFCA), a co-operative federation of 40 food co-ops and start-up initiatives with a combined membership of more than 150,000 people across New England and New York State. Prior to joining the association, he worked with the Cooperative Development Institute, the Cooperative Fund of New England, and the Valley Alliance of Worker Co-ops and as an independent consultant. Erbin began his career in co-ops at Equal Exchange, a worker co-operative and pioneer in the international Fair Trade movement, where he developed innovative models for collaboration with relief and development organizations and led the creation of domestic co-operative supply chains. He received his Master of Management: Co-operatives & Credit Unions from Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia and has delivered courses on the co-operative movement at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, and at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he worked with the Department of Economics and the Valley Alliance of Worker Co-ops to launch an undergraduate Certificate in Applied Research on Co-operative Enterprise.  Erbin also serves on the Board of Directors of the Co-operative Management Education Co-operative and the New England Farmers Union.
